Starting July 1st, Duo Media's channels, led by Kanal 2, have been available free-to-air, and this access will continue free of charge until the end of 2024. In addition, Kino 7 and MyHits TV have now been added to the free-to-air service. Levira’s 4K UHD broadcast testing period, which began in July and ran until the end of September, was deemed a success, with viewer interest exceeding expectations.
“As of October 1st, we are concluding our UHD channel testing, which has provided viewers with exceptionally detailed and crystal-clear television. The test results confirm that Estonian TV audiences are open and ready for the broader adoption of UHD technology,” said Levira's Director of Technology and IT, Kristo Kaasan. “The interest in Museum TV and MyZen TV during the test period surpassed our expectations, and the UHD channels were close to breaking into the top ten most popular free-to-air channels,” he added. “We are grateful to everyone who participated in the testing and provided valuable feedback.”
In addition to Kino 7 and MyHits TV, viewers will continue to have free access to Duo Media channels, including Kanal 2, Duo 4, Duo 5, and Kanal 7, until the end of 2024. “The initial experience has been promising, and the feedback encouraging. As a result, we are expanding our collaboration and adding more channels to better evaluate the impact of free-to-air broadcasting on the audience,” said Jüri Pihel, Chairman of the Board of Duo Media.
In addition to Duo Media's channels, viewers can access the following free-to-air channels: ETV, ETV2, ETV+, TVP World, Current Time (Настоящее Время), Ukraina24, Euronews, and France 24.
