Mr Tiit Tammiste, CEO of the international media services and digital infrastructure company Levira, has informed the company’s Supervisory Board that he will not seek reappointment when his current term expires later this year. His contract is set to conclude on 31 October 2026.
“This summer marks ten years for me as CEO of Levira, and I feel the time is right to hand over to new leadership. It has been a privilege to work with such a talented team, and I am confident they will continue to drive the company forward both in Estonia and internationally,” said Tammiste.
Levira is Estonia’s leading operator of television and radio transmission networks and owns one of the country’s largest data centres. The company also operates in satellite communications and delivers services to media companies worldwide.
Tammiste said he leaves Levira in a strong position, with several key projects successfully launched and now reaching maturity.
“New initiatives already in the pipeline will be taken forward by the next CEO. Levira’s strategy is clear, and the company is well positioned for continued growth,” he added.
“During his tenure as CEO, Tiit Tammiste has made a significant contribution to Levira’s development. He is a seasoned professional with decades of experience in the telecommunications sector and extensive leadership expertise. Tiit has played a key role in Levira’s international expansion, while also driving the development of services for the domestic market,” said Allan Martinson, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Levira.
The Supervisory Board will begin the search for a successor in due course.
During his tenure, Levira modernised Estonia’s TV and radio transmission infrastructure and launched digital radio services. The company also navigated major societal challenges, including the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, playing a critical role in ensuring continuity of public information.
Levira is also contributing to emergency preparedness by testing, in collaboration with partners, the Pocket Siren solution. This innovation aims to ensure that emergency alerts can reach people even when conventional mobile and internet networks are unavailable, such as during natural disasters or national crises.
Levira has expanded into the United Kingdom, where Levira Media Services Ltd supports both local and international media companies. The UK is now Levira’s largest export market, accounting for nearly 13% of revenue in 2024.
Prior to joining Levira, Tammiste served as Chief Technology Officer at Telia Eesti until May 2016 and previously held senior roles at EMT and Eesti Telekom. Following his departure, he plans to take some time off before considering his next steps.
